Softball Recap: Los Banos Takes a Loss

Los Banos fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Golden Valley on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in March.

Mya Arista spent all 9.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gracie Orozco made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Avery Vierra, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-5.

Los Banos dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Golden Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Los Banos has already played their next game, a 13-5 defeat against Merced on the 10th. As for Golden Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 win against Buhach Colony on the 10th.
