Basketball Recap: Gaston Christian Now 12-2 over Last 14 Games

Gaston Christian posted their biggest victory since December 10, 2024 on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 72-48 margin over the Gaston Day Spartans. The Eagles pushed the score to 57-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.

Gaston Christian was led to victory by Rilpuou Mabor Marier and Cameron Newman. Mabor Marier went 5 of 6 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and six blocks, while Newman posted nine points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Mabor Marier is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dario Williams, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Gaston Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gaston Day only posted seven assists.

Dyson Britt and Ben Chotkowski certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Britt had 17 points, while Chotkowski posted ten points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Chotkowski a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hunter Gerould, who put up four points.

Gaston Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Gaston Day, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.
