Basketball Recap: Sarah Pettey Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Warren won the last time they faced Point Pleasant and things went their way on Saturday too. The Warren Warriors strolled past the Point Pleasant Big Blacks with points to spare, taking the game 48-32. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 171st in Ohio, while the Big Blacks are ranked 587th in West Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Warren to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sarah Pettey, who went 6 for 8 en route to 13 points and seven boards. Mackenzie James-McGuire was another key player, putting up 16 points and four steals.

Warren was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Point Pleasant only posted four assists.

Point Pleasant lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Chloe Waminan, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 37.5% of Point Pleasant's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Warren's record is now 9-6. As for Point Pleasant, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Warren has already played their next game, a 32-28 defeat against Fairfield Union on the 29th. As for Point Pleasant, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-19 loss against Marietta on the 30th.
