Softball Recap: Elyria Pioneers vs. North Ridgeville Rangers
Elyria had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-9 to make it five. They came up short against the North Ridgeville Rangers, falling 22-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-4 two weeks ago.
Elyria saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Green, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for North Ridgeville, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.
On North Ridgeville's side, Selena Bottomlee looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Kailee Pasenow was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Bella Kucirek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Looking ahead, Elyria will take on Keystone at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Ridgeville, they will square off against Strasburg-Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
