Football Recap: De'mere Gray and Brennen Newton Pace Midview Defense

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Midview ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Steele Comets by a score of 14-7. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Middies were the better team in the second half.

Marcus McMahon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 116 yards and one score. Midview is 4-2 when McMahon posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Midview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of De'Mere Gray and Brennen Newton. Brayden Homoki was another major factor on D, making 20 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

The victory got Midview back to even at 5-5. As for Steele, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Coming up, Midview will square off against Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' defense has only allowed 14.3 points per game this season, so the Middies' offense will have their work cut out for them. Steele does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
