Basketball Recap: Scotlandville Takes a Loss

Scotlandville has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 67-60 to the Catholic Bears on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bears are ranked first).

When it comes to explaining why Scotlandville lost, don't look at Aaron Marshall. Despite the final result, he went 12-for-19 en route to 33 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Marshall a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Simmons, who posted 11 points.

Scotlandville's record is now 17-9. As for Catholic, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 28-3.

Coming up, Scotlandville will head out to take on Madison Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodlawn-B.R. at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodlawn-B.R. has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
