Volleyball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 9-11 to make it four. They fell just short of the Gilmour Academy Lancers by a score of 3-2. The Jaguars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Maddy Rosbough paced St. Joseph Academy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Rosbough got some help from Stella Welch and her 23 assists. Milani Marrero controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

As for Gilmour Academy, they now have a winning record of 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since August 28th.

Gilmour Academy can attribute much of their success to Avery Martin, who had 17 digs and two assists. Martin is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Academy will face off against Pine-Richland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rams will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gilmour Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against North Allegheny at 11:00 a.m.
