Baseball Game Preview: Oak Ridge Wildcats vs. Pikeville Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Oak Ridge Wildcats challenge Pikeville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oak Ridge will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Oak Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over Campbell County on Tuesday. Considering the Wildcats have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mikee Teasley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cy Stephens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Andy Hutson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Oak Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Pikeville came up short against Jefferson County on Wednesday and fell 6-2.

Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Pikeville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
