Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Palo Verde extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Alchesay. They blew past the Alchesay Falcons 58-36. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palo Verde to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rashad Ortiz, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 17 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Ortiz a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Adrian Powers, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Palo Verde smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive games.

Alchesay's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Texas James, who posted seven points and five rebounds. Austin Mason also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Palo Verde's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 43.6 points. As for Alchesay, their loss dropped their record down to 21-11.

Looking ahead, Palo Verde will face off against ALA - Ironwood at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Palo Verde is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.1 points per game this season. Alchesay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
