Basketball Game Preview: Overhills Jaguars vs. Harnett Central Trojans

Overhills has gone 10-0 against Harnett Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Overhills Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Harnett Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Overhills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.2 points per game this season.

Overhills is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Westover just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jaguars have suffered against the Wolverines since February 1, 2022.

Despite their defeat, Overhills saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ja?Von Motta, who posted 14 points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Motta has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Odom, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Overhills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Harnett Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 65-55 to Terry Sanford. The Trojans were up 18-4 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Overhills' record is now 9-3. As for Harnett Central, their record is now 6-4.

Everything went Overhills' way against Harnett Central when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Overhills made off with a 68-42 victory. Does Overhills have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harnett Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
