Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newman Smith). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 73-46 victory over the Turner Lions. The score was close at the half, but the Trojans pulled away in the second half with 44 points.

Turner lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sahil Anand, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Torres, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points.

Newman Smith's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Turner, they dropped their record down to 12-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Newman Smith and Turner could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Newman Smith will face off against Wakeland at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday down 727 places (880 vs. 153). Similarly, Turner (ranked 789th) will meet Highland Park (ranked 45th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
