Baseball Game Preview: Excel Panthers vs. Hillcrest Jaguars

Excel has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hillcrest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Excel Panthers duke it out with Hillcrest Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. Excel will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Excel had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Hillcrest on Thursday. Excel was the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over Hillcrest.

Mason Goldman made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. He is becoming a predictor of Excel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Holden Stacey and Trent Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Stacey scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Williams scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Williams has become a key player for Excel: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Adams, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Excel pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14 runs. As for Hillcrest, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
