Baseball Recap: Centennial Beats Urbana for Their Third Straight Win

Centennial barely beat Urbana the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers blew past the Tigers 21-3 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Chargers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Centennial got a great performance from Nick Kroencke as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Kroencke has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Wyatt Brownfield was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cal Meyers was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .361 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Centennial's record is now 14-15. As for Urbana, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will challenge Mt. Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Urbana, they will square off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.24 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
