Basketball Game Preview: Hibriten Panthers vs. Ashe County Huskies

The Hibriten Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Ashe County Huskies at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 89-50, which was the final score in Hibriten's tilt against Freedom on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 557th, while the Patriots are ranked 92nd).

Meanwhile, Ashe County played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Alexander Central 69-32. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.

This is the second loss in a row for Hibriten and nudges their season record down to 3-12. As for Ashe County, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

Hibriten came up short against Ashe County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 58-47. Can Hibriten avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
