Basketball Game Preview: Blue Valley Northwest Huskies vs. Blue Valley North Mustangs

Blue Valley Northwest hasn't had much luck against Blue Valley North recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Valley Northwest Huskies will challenge the Blue Valley North Mustangs at 5:30 p.m.

Blue Valley Northwest lost 60-38 to Blue Valley on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Tigers are ranked 169th).

Meanwhile, Blue Valley North had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they went ahead and made it four last Friday. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 59-45.

Blue Valley North pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points over those games. As for Blue Valley Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Blue Valley Northwest came up short against Blue Valley North when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 39-35. Can Blue Valley Northwest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
