Monterey Trail was handed a 29-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elk Grove Thundering Herd, sneaking past 14-12. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Thundering Herd back in September, they had to take a 26-20 loss.

Isabella Barrientos threw for 180 yards and two TDs. Dalis Blackshire was her top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Although Elk Grove took the loss, they still got scores from Mackenzie McEntee and Kyleann Baird.

Monterey Trail has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Elk Grove, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5.

Monterey Trail wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 26-20 loss against Sheldon on the 23rd. As for Elk Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-6 victory against Franklin on the 23rd.
