Joshua Rios was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bosco Tech narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mary Star of the Sea 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Stars: they've now won three in a row.
Jose Iniguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Iniguez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Iniguez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Longoria, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Bosco Tech pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal.
