Elkhorn South dropped their record down to 8-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Papillion-LaVista South Titans, falling 13-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

Elkhorn South saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Jindra, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Papillion-LaVista South, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Papillion-LaVista South's side, Cameron Curtis tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Curtis has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Papillion-LaVista South let Griffin Minderman and Grant Gilbreath run wild. Minderman went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Gilbreath went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Gilbreath has posted since back in April of 2024. Michael Jellen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Elkhorn South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 victory against Omaha Northwest on the 21st. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they have also already played their next game, an 8-1 win against Millard West on the 19th.
