Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Mt. Carmel will face off against San Pasqual. The Sundevils will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Carmel's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so San Pasqual's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mt. Carmel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over San Pasqual on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Mt. Carmel got a great performance from Jack Grassa as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits.

At the plate, Chase Mendoza was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Miller, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mt. Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Carmel and bumps their season record up to 12-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for San Pasqual, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.
