Football Recap: Bowdon Piles Up the Points Against Greenville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowdon). They claimed a resounding 68-14 win over the Greenville Patriots. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Bowdon's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joshua Hopkins, who threw for 212 yards and six TDs on only 13 passes. Those six passing touchdowns gave Hopkins a new career-high. Connor Daniel was another key player, gaining 118 total yards and three touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Mykah Patterson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Shawn Moreland and Dre Wilson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Moreland rushed for 66 yards and one score on only five carries, while Wilson threw for 192 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes.

Bowdon's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Greenville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Bowdon has already played their next game, a 63-0 victory against Trion on the 30th. As for Greenville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 55-8 defeat against Manchester on the 31st.
