Softball Game Preview: Pen Argyl Green Knights vs. Bangor Slaters

Pen Argyl is 2-8 against Bangor since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Pen Argyl will welcome Bangor at 4:00 p.m. Pen Argyl is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Bangor's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Pen Argyl hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Pen Argyl never let Northern Lehigh get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Saturday. While the Green Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The result came thanks to Jillian Bradley's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Oessenick, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Bangor made easy work of Wilson Area on Monday and carried off a 9-3 win. Considering the Slaters have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Pen Argyl's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bangor, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Pen Argyl came up short against Bangor when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Pen Argyl avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
