Basketball Game Preview: Punahou Buff n' Blue vs. Maryknoll Spartans

The Punahou Buff n' Blue will venture away from home to square off against the Maryknoll Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Maryknoll is hoping to do what Mid-Pacific Institute couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Punahou's winning streak, which now stands at eight games. Punahou took their contest with ease, bagging a 64-34 win over Mid-Pacific Institute.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maryknoll). Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 75-46 stomp they got against Castro Valley. The victory was familiar territory for the Spartans who have now won three matches in a row.

Maryknoll's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Punahou, their victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3.

Punahou was able to grind out a solid win over Maryknoll in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 52-42. Will Punahou repeat their success, or does Maryknoll have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
