Softball Recap: Lakota Raiders vs. Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains

Lakota's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They skirted past the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains 11-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Sophia Bomer made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lakota let Lexi Moon and Chevelle Rubel run wild. Moon got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Rubel went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Moon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailynn Keeran, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Coming up, Lakota will face off against Gibsonburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will square off against Mohawk at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight.
