Football Game Preview: Fenton Tigers vs. Goodrich Martians

The Fenton Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Goodrich Martians at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Fenton sitting on five straight victories and Goodrich on 20 (dating back to last season).

On Friday, Fenton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Linden, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win.

Noah Sheil was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 333 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 87 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Fenton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Linden to a completion percentage of just 47.4%. The Tigers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 58.3%.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Goodrich against Corunna on Friday as the team secured a 55-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Martians, who have now won five games by 41 points or more so far this season.

Fenton better keep an eye on Jakoby Lagat. He was instrumental in Goodrich's win, rushing for 344 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Lagat's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 241 rushing yards.

Fenton's record now sits at 5-2. As for Goodrich, their record is now 7-0.

Fenton was taken down by Goodrich 42-3 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
