Basketball Recap: Catoosa Victorious

On Saturday, the Catoosa Indians slipped by the Preston Pirates 44-43. The Indians pushed the score to 39-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirates cut but never quite recovered from.

Catoosa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ta'Nei West, who posted 16 points and five boards. West continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Luciana Underwood, who earned eight points and nine rebounds.

Catoosa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Catoosa's win bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Preston, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.

Catoosa has already played their next contest, a 60-28 loss against Wagoner on the 11th. As for Preston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-20 defeat against Eufaula on the 11th.
