Baseball Recap: Lawndale Takes a Loss

Lawndale fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Santa Monica on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Cardinals just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Lawndale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alejandro Zepeda, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Lawndale's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Santa Monica, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lawndale is set to face off against their familiar foe Leuzinger at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 3.5, the Olympians 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Santa Monica will square off against rival Inglewood at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
