Volleyball Recap: Masconomet Regional Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

Masconomet Regional proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Newburyport Clippers. The victory was nothing new for the Chieftains as they're now sitting on four straight.

Masconomet Regional had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-11.

Leading Masconomet Regional to victory were Lidia Benedetto and Jordan Draper. Benedetto had 12 digs and two assists, while Draper had 36 assists and three digs. Those two assists gave Benedetto a new career-high.

Masconomet Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in five consecutive matchups.

The win got Masconomet Regional back to even at 4-4. As for Newburyport, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-2 record.

Looking ahead, Masconomet Regional will challenge Winthrop at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newburyport, they will face off against Lynnfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
