Basketball Game Preview: Miramar Patriots vs. Central Rockets

The Miramar Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Central Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miramar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Miramar came up short against Stranahan and fell 62-52. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Mighty Dragons are ranked 34th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Martell Smith, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Joshua Skinner was another key player, going 7 of 14 en route to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Miramar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Braddock on Tuesday, taking the game 66-53.

Central's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Miramar, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Everything came up roses for Miramar against Central when the teams last played back in December of 2019, as the squad secured an 83-47 victory. Does Miramar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
