Basketball Game Preview: Elgin Wildcats vs. Hendrickson Hawks

Elgin hasn't had much luck against Hendrickson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Elgin Wildcats will face off against the Hendrickson Hawks at 7:00 p.m.

Elgin is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against East View on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Elgin was dealt a 57-20 loss at the hands of East View. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Despite the defeat, Elgin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Alasia Brown posted five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Hendrickson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-38 win over the Patriots. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Hendrickson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Elgin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-22.

Elgin was dealt a bruising 79-11 loss at the hands of Hendrickson in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Elgin was down 51-4.
