Basketball Game Preview: Winamac Warriors vs. Rochester Zebras

The Winamac Warriors will challenge the Rochester Zebras at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Winamac is headed out to face Rochester after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Warriors blew past Twin Lakes 62-30 on Tuesday. The Warriors pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians had little chance of recovering from.

Winamac's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jaybin Hines, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals, and Parker Zeider, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 15 points and five rebounds. What's more, Zeider posted two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Sean Stark was another key player, putting up eight points.

Winamac was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twin Lakes only posted five.

Meanwhile, Rochester had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down Culver Community 48-30. The win continues a trend for the Zebras in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won nine in a row.

Rochester's win came from a few key players Winamac will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carson Paulik, who scored seven points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Kiser, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Winamac couldn't quite get it done against Rochester in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 as they fell 55-44. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
