Football Recap: Vancleave Falls to St. Martin in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Vancleave unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the St. Martin Yellow Jackets 64-21 on Friday. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.

Cam Sherrod threw for 146 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 9-for-9 passing. Jhairus Todd was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Seth Crockett was nothing short of spectacular for St. Martin: he rushed for 164 yards and four scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 183 yards and one TD while completing 91.7% of his passes. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Crockett a new career-high. Cameron Romero also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vancleave is headed away from home for the first time to take on Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Martin, they will head out to face off against West Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Yellow Jackets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
