Baseball Recap: Madison Plains Gets the Win

Madison Plains's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Northeastern Jets 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted since April 4th.

Xaiden Sharpe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Madison Plains is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Madison Plains saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cliffton Estep, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The victory got Madison Plains back to even at 8-8. As for Northeastern, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Madison Plains will square off against Worthington Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Northeastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
