Softball Game Preview: Capital Cougars vs. Oak Hill Red Devils

The Capital Cougars will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Oak Hill Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Capital will be strutting in after a win while Oak Hill will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with 21 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Capital turned things around against St. Joseph Central on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 22-10 margin over the Irish. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the match before.

Ella Sedosky and Jadan Bishop did most of the damage at the plate: Sedosky got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI, while Bishop scored four runs and stole Six bases. while going 3-for-5. What's more, Bishop posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Myya Williams, who scored three runs and stole Five bases.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Oak Hill was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Princeton by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.

Sadie Branch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Ava Emery was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

The victory got Capital back to even at 1-1. As for Oak Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
