The Poth Pirates will square off against the Stockdale Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Stockdale will be up against a hot Poth team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Pirates took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 45-6 win over Cotulla. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Cowboys are ranked 824th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Payton Helford, who rushed for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Helford has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Antonio DeHoyos was another key receiver, picking up 115 receiving yards and three scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Poth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Stockdale against Dilley on Friday as the squad secured a 42-14 victory.
Poth better keep an eye on Coy Gann. He was instrumental in Stockdale's win, rushing for 218 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Gann a new career-high. Ricky Ayala helped out on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.
Poth's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Stockdale, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Poth has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stockdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 236.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Poth against Stockdale in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-7 win. In that game, the Pirates amassed a halftime lead of 35-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
