Recap: Turpin Spartans vs. Walnut Hills Eagles
The Turpin Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to Walnut Hills 48-42. While losing is never fun, Turpin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Walnut Hills is ranked 97th).
Sophia Schiano and Josie Carrelli certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Schiano dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Carrelli scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Lauren Dornheggen, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Turpin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Walnut Hills, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Turpin will take on Loveland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Loveland is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Walnut Hills, they will be playing at home against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
