Basketball Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

Princeton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spring Creek Gators. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since December 1, 2023.

Despite the loss, Princeton still got an impressive performance from Teo McPhatter, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, McPhatter is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Evan Pate was another key player, putting up five points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Princeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

It was another big night for Nathan Jackson, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals for Spring Creek. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Chambers, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Princeton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Spring Creek, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Eastern Wayne the next time they take the court. Princeton will head out to face Eastern Wayne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Spring Creek will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
