Preview: Riverdale Cowboys vs. Kings Christian Crusaders
The Riverdale Cowboys are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Kings Christian Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-29, which was the final score in Riverdale's tilt against the Eagles on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Riverdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1240th, while the Eagles are ranked 345th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Kings Christian gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 87-32 win over Alpaugh. Winning may never get old, but Kings Christian sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Ronnie Roche was his usual excellent self, scoring 33 points along with five steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Kings Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deonte Reynolds, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Riverdale has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Kings Christian, they pushed their record up to 24-2 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
Riverdale took a serious blow against the Crusaders in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 79-31. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Riverdale was down 47-13.
