Softball Game Preview: East Chambers Buccaneers vs. Anahuac Panthers

East Chambers hasn't had much luck against Anahuac recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The East Chambers Buccaneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Anahuac Panthers at 6:30 p.m. East Chambers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Friday just wasn't the day for East Chambers' offense. They came up short against Orangefield on Friday, falling 8-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Buccaneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Isabella Quave spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anahuac). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Warren a 17-0 shutout on Friday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Brecken Wilpitz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.

In other batting news, Anahuac let Hannah Mckenzie and Jayda Granger run wild. Mckenzie went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs, while Granger scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Mckenzie a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Kaitlynn McDaniel, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Anahuac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warren didn't got any hits.

East Chambers' loss dropped their record down to 13-6-1. As for Anahuac, their win bumped their record up to 10-2-2.
