Basketball Game Preview: Urbana Hawks vs. Clarksburg Coyotes

Urbana is 2-7 against Clarksburg since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Urbana Hawks will face off against the Clarksburg Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Urbana is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 72-42 victory over Governor Thomas Johnson. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clarksburg). They had just enough and edged out Churchill 76-73. The win continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

The victory made it two in a row for Urbana and bumps their season record up to 15-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26 points. As for Clarksburg, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Urbana came up short against Clarksburg in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 53-45. Can Urbana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
