Basketball Game Preview: Largo Lions vs. Oxon Hill Clippers

The Largo Lions will take on the Oxon Hill Clippers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Largo sitting on 12 straight victories and Oxon Hill on four.

It was a proper cat-fight when Largo faced off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North on Thursday. Everything went Largo's way against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North as Largo made off with a 90-67 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Oxon Hill won against Central on Wednesday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Oxon Hill beat Central by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 56-51. Given the Clippers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Falcons are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oxon Hill's win came from a few key players Largo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Donnell Dorsey, who posted 16 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Nigel Harris, who earned 14 points.

Largo's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.4 points. As for Oxon Hill, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.

Largo strolled past Oxon Hill in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 48-33. Will Largo repeat their success, or does Oxon Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
