Basketball Recap: Weir Red Riders vs. John Marshall Monarchs

The Weir Red Riders entered their tilt with the John Marshall Monarchs with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Weir came out on top against the Monarchs by a score of 61-49 on Tuesday. This was payback for Weir, who suffered a 60-49 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Weir to victory were Damir Mowder and Colin Cross. Mowder dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Cross scored 25 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Mowder scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Potock, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.

Weir's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for John Marshall, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weir will challenge the Huskies at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully North Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for John Marshall, they will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Buckeye Local and three for the Monarchs.
