Basketball Recap: Jackson Academy Raiders vs. Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots
The Jackson Academy Raiders came tearing into Thursday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 win over Madison-Ridgeland Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Jackson Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Mike Williams was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Mason Williams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Jackson Academy pushed their record up to 28-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 27-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. St. Joseph Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Raiders are ranked first). As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
