Basketball Recap: White Knoll's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but White Knoll unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 50-31 bruising from the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Diamond Hornets are ranked fifth).

When it comes to explaining why White Knoll lost, don't look at Shaelyn Hayes. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Emory Waters-Inman was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, White Knoll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Lower Richland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chi?Nya Isaac out in front who went 8 of 14 on her way to 20 points. That's the most points Isaac has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhnai Sumter, who posted six points along with 13 rebounds and five assists.

White Knoll's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Lower Richland, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

White Knoll didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-18 win against River Bluff on the 9th. As for Lower Richland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-34 victory against Hartsville on the 7th.
