Hillsboro not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 11, 2024 (when they won 62-0). They breezed past the Venus Bulldogs to the tune of 56-8. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Braylen Benson and Kaden Grim. Benson rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries while Grim rushed for 126 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Grim's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jaylon Fennell was in the mix as well, providing Hillsboro with two scores.
Hillsboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Hillsboro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Fennell and Edward Ramirez. Fennell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
With the victory, Hillsboro broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Venus, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
