Baseball Recap: Grove City Eagles vs. Wilmington Greyhounds
Grove City had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 10-5 to the Wilmington Greyhounds on Thursday.
Paul Gubba was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nolan Renick, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
On Wilmington's side, they got a great performance from Owen Bauer as he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Hunter Jones and Chase Mitcheltree did most of the damage at the plate: Jones scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Mitcheltree scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Rocky Serafino was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.
The victory (which was Wilmington's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Grove City will look to defend their home field on Friday against Clarion Area at 4:00 p.m. Grove City will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. As for Wilmington, they will head out on the road to square off against Reynolds at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
