Softball Recap: Kennard-Dale Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Kennard-Dale extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping their season record up to 17-2 in the process. They had just enough and edged out the Susquehannock Warriors 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 10th.

Taryn Ashenfelter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Susquehannock, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but Kennard-Dale's pitcher proved too tough.

On Susquehannock's side, Ella Wetzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Susquehannock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Karst, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Kennard-Dale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Susquehannock, they will face off against Northeastern at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
