Baseball Recap: Wallenpaupack Area Takes a Loss

After flying high against West Scranton on Friday, Wallenpaupack Area came back down to earth. The Buckhorns came up short against the Martinsburg Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 10-4.

Wallenpaupack Area got a good showing from John Longhenry, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Wallenpaupack Area saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Paltzer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Wallenpaupack Area has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Martinsburg, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wallenpaupack Area will face off against Scranton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.87 runs per game on average), something the Buckhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Martinsburg, they will take on Grace Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
