Basketball Recap: Monsignor Pace Takes a Loss

Monsignor Pace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Palm Beach Central Broncos. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while the Broncos are ranked 92nd).

Despite the defeat, Monsignor Pace had strong showings from Kris Delva, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points and five boards, and Jamaal Gibson, Jr, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Delva a new career-high in points. Teagan Jordan was another key player, putting up no points along with six boards and three blocks.

Monsignor Pace's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Palm Beach Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Monsignor Pace is taking a road trip to take on Don Soffer Aventura at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Don Soffer Aventura is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. Palm Beach Central has already played their next game (against Plantation), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
