Softball Preview: McKinney North Bulldogs vs. Melissa Cardinals

McKinney North is 0-3 against Melissa since March of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McKinney North Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Melissa Cardinals at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, McKinney North suffered a rough 13-2 defeat at the hands of Lovejoy. McKinney North has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Melissa put the finishing touches on their 21st blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over Princeton. Winning may never get old, but Melissa sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Alex Starr looked comfortable as she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Melissa let Hutton(lulu) Adrian and Caigan Crabtree loose on the outfield. Adrian fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4, while Crabtree fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Johnson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

McKinney North's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Melissa, their win bumped their record up to 27-2-1.
