It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mount Vernon had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Ballard Beavers 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their 21st in a row.

Mount Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Ballard, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mount Vernon will challenge Kennewick at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ballard, they will face off against Gig Harbor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tides' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Beavers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
